According to legend, during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, this region suffered a prolonged drought. The people gathered by the riverbank, set up an altar, and prayed for rain. Suddenly, they saw an elderly man with white hair and a youthful face pass by, who instructed them to offer sacrifices to Heaven at this very spot—namely, beneath the company’s entrance. No sooner had they finished their prayers than, before they could even gather up their offerings, a torrential downpour descended. The miracle was so remarkable that the place came to be known as “Praying‑for‑Rain Mountain.”
