Historical Origins
According to legend, during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, this area suffered a prolonged drought with no rain. The people gathered by the riverbank, set up altars, and prayed for rain. Suddenly, an elderly man with white hair and a youthful countenance passed by, instructing them to offer sacrifices to Heaven at this very spot—namely, beneath the company’s entrance. No sooner had they finished their prayers than, before they could even gather up their offerings, a torrential downpour descended. So miraculous was the event that the place came to be known as “Rain‑Seeking Mountain.”
Geographical advantages and strategic position
Within Hui’an Park, “Rain‑Seeking Mountain” radiates vigorous dragon energy and is graced with the verdant splendor of Spirit Mountain. Its excellence lies in the three key elements of “form,” “sand,” and “qi.” The entire mountain range stretches from northeast to southwest, with peaks seamlessly linked in an unbroken continuum, covering an area of sixty thousand square meters. Surrounded by a cluster of mountains that converge in a “left‑hand grasp, right‑hand embrace” configuration, a smaller peak rises prominently at the center; its midsection is rounded, its summit flat, resembling a jeweled table—truly a picturesque setting of refined beauty. The whole mountain shields against northern malevolent influences, ensuring a mild climate both in winter and summer. As for its “form,” it evokes the image of “Nine Dragons Playing with a Pearl”; as for its “spirit,” it embodies the aura of an imperial envoy presiding over a court.
This mountain boasts a solid, compact texture, half‑clay and half‑sand, with rich, lustrous hues. Under the sun’s rays, the sands shimmer with shifting shades of purple, red, blue, and white, faintly glinting—this is the rare and prized “purple sand”; by contrast, “slave sand” lacks any such iridescent radiance.
Geographical advantages and strategic position
With abundant vital energy, its spirit is as mighty as mountains and rivers; its vigor never wanes, and auspicious aura overflows. This qi connects to a blessed land—eastward it joins the Jiulong Peak of Huidong, westward it links to Luofu Mountain in Boluo—its flow stretches like a long rainbow, possessing the strength of a vigorous youth of thirty, surging with such force that it seems to pierce the heavens.
Sunrise and sunset, birth and death—such is the inevitable order of things. As long as there is life, there must be death; this cannot be reversed. In life, one does not recognize the soul; because the body is tangible, the soul remains unknown. When a person dies, the corpse is no longer recognizable, for it decays and leaves no trace—but the spirit lingers, and with it, the soul. Hence the saying: “In life, one does not acknowledge the soul; in death, one does not acknowledge the corpse.”
When one has no abode in life, it is called “wandering”; when one dies without a tomb, it is called a “wandering spirit.” It is said that the ancestral hall is the dwelling of ghosts, while the grave is the lair of their souls. From ancient times to the present, descendants have always sought out a feng shui–rich site for their departed forebears, ensuring their proper interment so that their spirits may find rest and their souls may abide in peace—comforted and at ease—thereby bestowing blessings upon their posterity, sustaining it through countless generations and bringing enduring prosperity and honor. This, indeed, is “filial piety.”
Geographical advantages and strategic position
